Website Design & Development

Website Design & Development

Your website is the foundation of your marketing. It is likely that most, if not all, of your customers, will visit your website at one time or another. Therefore, it is imperative that your website provides an exceptional online experience while telling your story and setting you apart from your competitors.

Take a look at your current website and ask yourself these questions:

  • What does your business/product do?
  • What problem do you solve for your customers?
  • Who are your 3 main competitors (direct or indirect)?
  • What do you like and dislike about your competitors’ brand identity?
  • What would you do differently?
  • What makes you stand out (background, product or service) above your competitors?
  • Why should your prospects buy from you or engage with you?
  • Is there a unique story behind your business, business name or logo?

If you’re due for a new website, or an update to your current site, it is easy to get overwhelmed by all of the choices available to you when hiring a web developer.

Consider these factors when picking a web development company:

Do they have a proven track record of quality design and high-performance?

Design is important, but you cannot use that one element to judge the quality of a web development agency.

While most people tend to judge a website on its aesthetics alone, the reality is that the anesthetics are not always the most important aspect of a successful website. We certainly believe that beautifully designed websites matter, but we often see aesthetically pleasing websites that fail to perform. Likewise, we’ve found some poorly designed sites that outperform many gorgeous websites.

We believe the balance is to create a beautiful website that well represents your brand while making money for your business.

A successful web development company should be able to capture your vision while keeping your brand consistent, and ultimately build you a website that makes you money.

Is it easy to communicate with them?

While there are many capable web designers out there, it’s rare to find one that knows how to communicate well. One of the most common complaints we hear from businesses is that their web developers don’t seem to understand their needs.

One of our clients said, “I spent countless hours on the phone with [my previous company] and they didn’t seem to hear a word I said. That cost me a lot of my time for no results.”

This common issue comes down to poor communication skills. While many website designers have stunning work to display in their portfolio, they simply fail to deliver similar results for clients because of an inability to communicate properly with their clients.

The solution is to vet your prospective web development company and test their communication skills. Ask them about their onboarding process and to explain how they helped a similar client achieve their goals.

Are they easy to reach?

While this is related to communication, availability is its own topic. A web company may communicate quite well…when you can reach them.

But many business leaders can tell you that it is very difficult to find a responsive digital marketing team, especially if something goes wrong over the weekend.

Make sure to ask about response times and what the plan is for night and weekend issues that may arise.

Don’t work with a company unless you can get the cell phone number for your account manager, and preferably their business leader. If they won’t provide it, move along.

Do you like them?

It may seem trivial, but if you don’t like the person you’ll be working with to get results, then it’s likely you won’t be happy with the result.

Just like with any other industry, your web development team should be courteous and treat you like a valued customer.

If your gut tells you that something is off with their demeanor, move along.

To build a rapport that will serve your business purposes, don’t be afraid to speak off topic to get to know the kind of person with which you will be working.

Planning Your Website Design & Development

The planning process is critical to the success of your website. If you have ever paid a company to build your website, you may have run into these common challenges:

  • An excessive number of rounds of design.
  • Poor quality content.
  • Imagery that doesn’t match your brand.
  • Chronic delays.
  • Work being handed to you that the digital marketing agency should handle for you.

We have found that proper planning not only saves time on the overall development of a website, but it also leads to happier clients. Better still, the website simply performs better and produces a greater return on investment (ROI).

What goes into planning the design and development of your website?

Your onboarding process should include several team members who will be involved in the design, development and management of your website. While you don’t need every single person involved to attend the onboarding meeting, you should involve the team leaders who will be overseeing the process to ensure they all understand your vision.

During this process, you want to evaluate your competition to see what is performing well in your market and in other markets as well. Conduct in-depth research to find out what your competitors are doing and what you need to do to beat them online.

Our Process: Experience the Difference of Working with Seasoned Business Leaders

Numana SEO is part of Numana Group, a business consulting firm that specializes in helping businesses grow while improving their operations and overall quality of life. This provides our clients with the experience of seasoned business leaders and business development specialists who know how to profitably grow your brand.

And you can benefit from this experience when building your new website with Numana SEO.

Our planning, design, and development of your website pulls together four different teams to ensure that your website both performs and properly represents your brand.

  • Design Team
  • Web Development Team
  • Search Engine Optimization Team
  • Lead Generation Team

Our Planning Process

Once you sign on with Numana SEO, we schedule an onboarding meeting, and our team begins researching your competitors, your market, and your business.

During your onboarding meeting, you will meet with several department leaders who will need to understand your business objectives. We will take a deep dive into your business and help you better understand the work we will be doing on your behalf.

Design & Content Development

After your onboarding meeting, we create a work order for our design team to begin work on the design. Simultaneously, our content writing team begins their research to get started on creating your content.

It’s important to note that we utilize our content writers in a different way than most agencies because we understand the importance of having high-quality content on your website. Our content writers’ role is to research your market, your competitors, and your brand to ensure that the copy on your website provides an exceptional experience for the users on your website. They are at the center of creating an optimal user experience because their in-depth research allows them to understand your business on the deepest level.

We send you a design for your approval.

Once our design team completes a website design, it is sent to our content writers, to our SEO team, our web developers, and to our lead generation team so that each department can provide feedback.

This collaborative approach saves you time. We work out the kinks before ever sending over a design for review.

When you get your web design, if you are unhappy for any reason, we will work quickly to get you the perfect design for your website.

That’s right: you get unlimited revisions.

With your approval, we begin building your website.

Once you’ve given us the thumbs up on your new design, we begin building your website on our development server.

When the development is complete, we will send you a link for your review. At this point, you can experience your new website before it ever goes live online.

If you require any modifications at that time, we’ll work with you to tweak your approved design and make sure you love how it looks on all devices.

Quality Control Check

After you approve your new website, we will prepare it for launch. We have three team members who go through your website extensively on multiple devices and web browsers to make sure that your new website performs exceptionally well on all platforms.

Launch

With your quality control check complete, we determine the best time to take your website live on your domain. To ensure there is little to no disturbance to your web traffic, we launch your website outside of business hours (or during slower hours).

Continued Testing & Next Steps

After your website goes live, we continue testing your website to ensure that nothing goes wrong. We also finalize your website optimization and a variety of security-related tasks and tests.

Remember: Your website is never “done.”

If you complete your website build and do not refine the design and content on an ongoing basis, you will miss a lot of opportunities for your website to make you money.

Our support includes ongoing, routine monitoring and refinement of your website.
